Welcome to Wilcox Academy

As we begin to start school for the 2021-22 year, I want to welcome all of our returning teachers that do an outstanding job each and every year.   I am grateful for the teachers who work here and strive to educate our students. Also, we want to welcome all of our new students who have joined us for the new year and the families of all the students, too. Of course, we welcome back all or our WA family for a great, new school year.

Finally. Wilcox Academy was awarded a "Blue Ribbon School". This could not happen without WA having teachers, students, and parents working toward a common goal of educating our young people.

We are looking forward to another great school year. We are continually working to improve and make Wilcox Academy the best school it can be.

About our Headmaster

Headmaster, AD, Head Football Coach

I graduated from Wilcox Academy in 1986.  I played football, basketball, baseball and tennis.  I was in Jr High Beta Club and Sr. High Beta Club.  I am proud to be in Camden and the Headmaster at WA.  I graduated in 1990 from Auburn University with a degree in Finance.  It is an honor to help our community and school educate our young people.  We are blessed to have a Christian based school, with chapels on Monday of each week, devotions by each homeroom everyday, a Bible study on Mondays, and a FCA charter.  We try to teach our students to be the best student-athlete possible.  Character, morals, and integrity are characteristics our coaches and teachers try to install in all of our students.

My wife, Sara Burford and I, have four children.  Christopher, Gerry Ann, Jayne Ellen, and Mary Peyton.  Sara's parents and my parents also live here in Camden.  My brother, Dan Burford, also lives here.  Wilcox Academy is a great school that allows our students to participate and compete in athletics and also go to any school of his/her choice.   If you have any questions, please call the office phone at 334-682-9619.

Thanks,  Chris Burford
